People's March for Climate Control on Central Park West on 9/21/14. Due to medical recovery status I could not do the actual march, but went to support the group I was signed  up with The Appalachian Mountain Club. I do many of their walks in and around NYC and am soon to renew my membership.

My sign was quickly done and had a twist to it's message.
"Planet Earth's Tears are NOT the cause of the rising water levels"...as in the oceans.
In this poster, planet earth is crying for itself, and it's tears increase in volume. This was done on poster board with markers. I had taken a workshop and a 5 week class on "Planet Earth's Future" at the American Museum of Natural History during the spring and summer. It was an education and eye opener. One of the classes taught about rising ocean levels, and it is really happening.

Here is finished artwork for a CBIG Illustration workshop; "Antony and Cleopatra" by Shakespeare for high school students.  I went to the workshop and learned a lot about this new area.  Graphic novels are comic books, essentially. From the critique: my work is for a younger students, maybe middle grade.  I should've done it in PANELS, the sectioned off parts of the comic book containing the art and dialogue.

I was told I have a "style". My 2nd piece could've been a different angle/action...it was too much the same as the first one. These are the last two scenes in the edited play.

After seeing the original printed graphic novel done by a comic book illustrator(in color) as in "super heroes" style, I know this experiment was hard work...it is not my thing...but Egypt is and that part was fun for me, anyway. We all have our style(s).

CBIG Illustration Workshop with an art director and an art buyer. We all learned a lot from this critique located in a school lunchroom on the UES of NYC.

"Antony and Cleopatra"/ workshop pieces

My work table: I'm using Micron Pigma markers and pencil on sketch paper. Now the  sketch needs to be more finished and defined. This is for a teen graphic novel (2 consecutive pieces) based on Shakespeare's version of "Antony and Cleopatra" for a CBIG sponsored workshop.
Work has progressed since this photo was taken.  I even brought it in to my job to work on which is slow right now in the afternoon .. Shhhh!

I may add some color to this graphic novel approach; this is my first attempt at it. Watch those caption bubbles...they're way too loopy and lofty. I'll correct that. Now to work.

Healthy Sketchy Sketch Yo, gurt!

This is my December 2013 ABFFE online auction submission: a watercolor sketch using no pencil under drawing.

The Lorax: "Hard Work Pays Off."

This watercolor sketch based on "The Lorax" by Dr. Seuss for the ABFFE auction on May 28, 2014 at Javits Center, NYC.   Scenario: The fruits of the Lorax's labor have paid off, he can relax. After trying to convince the Once-ler that his factory is ruining the land and the wild life all around is leaving, the factory has gone under in my follow up to the original story.
There is hope: one Truffula Tree has grown, one Brown bar-ba-loot is back, and one Humming-fish is coming up for air.
